MotoCAP gears towards rider safety

Motorbike riders can now choose safer gear thanks to the world-first MotoCAP system.

MotoCAP measures the safety and comfort of motorbike gear using two five-star ratings.

Transport and Main Roads Minister, Mark Bailey, says “MotoCAP will make it easier for riders to strike the balance between personal protection and comfort for riding in Australian conditions.”

The safety rating is an important one, given that 930 Queensland riders were hospitalised last year – many with abrasion injuries.

“Regardless of who or what causes a crash, vulnerable road users such as motorcyclists will always be worse off in terms of injury or death,” Mr Bailey explains.

That’s why we’ve joined forces with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, the Australian Motorcycle Council and other stakeholders throughout Australia and New Zealand, to help fund MotoCAP.

Help us to improve rider safety – choose the right gear for your ride with MotoCAP.
