The cost of your Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance in Queensland depends on things like the type of vehicle you have and how you use it (e.g. for work or personal use).

To help with this, vehicles are grouped into different categories called “vehicle classes.” These classes are listed in Schedule 1 of the Motor Accident Insurance Regulation 2018. You can check the list below.

You can also find details about your vehicle’s CTP insurance on your registration renewal notice, which is sent to you by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, either by mail or email. It’s also on your registration certificate.

If you are unsure of which vehicle class to register your vehicle under, you may consider contacting the Department of Transport and Main Roads, your CTP insurer, or in some situations seeking legal advice.
