MAIC 2025–26 annual report now available

The Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) is pleased to share its 2025–26 annual report, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and initiatives undertaken throughout the financial year.
In 2025–26, MAIC and the Nominal Defendant entered an important period of transition, farewelling Insurance Commissioner Neil Singleton and recognising his lasting contribution to a strong, fair and affordable CTP scheme. Queenslanders continue to benefit from reliable protection and access to compensation, treatment, rehabilitation and care following motor vehicle accidents.
Careful financial management and evidence-based oversight continue to support a resilient, sustainable and responsive scheme for Queenslanders.
Key milestones from the year include:
- Easier access to CTP information – MAIC launched a refreshed website with simpler content, clearer navigation and improved access to practical CTP information and resources.
- CTP scheme review completed – the Queensland Government finalised its review, confirming the scheme remains affordable and effective, with MAIC continuing its commitment to monitor performance and engage stakeholders.
- More choice through competitive CTP pricing – price competition returned to Queensland’s CTP market for the first time since 2017, giving motorists greater choice and placing downward pressure on registration costs.
- Smarter, more secure insurer reporting – MAIC progressed its Exchange and CTP Portal pilots to support secure information sharing, more efficient digital services and reduced administration for insurers and legal stakeholders.
- Stronger protections for unrepresented claimants – a new Claims Management Standard strengthens transparency, communication and support for people managing a CTP claim without legal representation.
Looking ahead, MAIC will continue to respond to changing community expectations, advances in technology and evolving mobility trends. By leveraging data, digital solutions and evidence-based approaches, we will strengthen oversight, improve stakeholder experiences and support informed decision-making. We remain committed to listening to claimants, motorists, insurers, healthcare providers and our partners to ensure Queensland’s CTP scheme continues to meet the needs of the people it serves.
