February scheme insights and quarterly newsletter now available

The Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) is delighted to announce the release of the first quarterly scheme insights report and quarterly newsletter for 2025.

The newsletter includes updates on MAIC’s latest initiatives and partnerships, underscoring our commitment to enhancing road safety and trauma care in Queensland.

Highlights of this edition include the introduction of ‘Trauma Connect’, a three-year collaboration with Townsville Hospital and Health Service. This initiative is designed to boost trauma care across the widespread and culturally diverse communities of North Queensland.

In addition, the newsletter outlines a new partnership with Griffith University, led by Associate Professor Darren Wishart. This collaboration, which commenced in January 2025, aims to explore and enhance road safety across Queensland.

The newsletter also provides insights into MAIC’s funding of an innovative project by Logan City Council. The project utilises Advanced Mobility Analytics Group’s (AMAG) Safe Mobility Alert Real Time (SMART) technology to improve road safety through observational and predictive analysis – aiding in transport management and decision-making.

Finally, we discuss MAIC’s ongoing commitment to driving innovation for a better Compulsory Third Party (CTP) scheme in 2025. Building on the lessons learned from last year’s CTP medical certificate experiments, we are striving to co-design initiatives that speed up the process from accident to claim lodgement.

To read more about these initiatives and stay updated with our work, subscribe to the newsletter, view the scheme insights reports and quarterly newsletters online, or follow MAIC on Facebook and LinkedIn
