• RECOVER Injury Research Centre is a joint initiative of the Motor Accident Insurance Commission and the University of Queensland. The mission of RECOVER is to produce breakthrough research, leading to better outcomes after injury, especially when caused by road traffic crashes. RECOVER had developed a number of resources to improve the health outcomes of people injured in road traffic crashes.
  • PEDro: A physiotherapy evidence database providing rapid access to bibliographic details and abstracts of randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews and evidence based clinical practice guidelines in physiotherapy.
  • NeuroBITE: A database that catalogues studies of cognitive, behavioural and other treatments for psychological problems and issues which happen as a consequence of acquired brain impairment. The database includes systematic reviews, randomised and non randomised controlled trials, case studies and single case experimental designs.
  • OTseeker: A database of abstracts of systematic reviews and randomised controlled trials relevant to occupational therapy. Trials have been critically appraised and rated to assist occupational therapists to evaluate their validity and interpretability. These ratings will help judge the quality and usefulness of trials for informing clinical practice.
  • speechBITE: A database that provides open access to a catalogue of best interventions and treatment efficacy across the scope of Speech Pathology practice. This is an evidence based practice initiative between the University of Sydney and Speech Pathology Australia. Methodological ratings are included to allow the discernment of the scientific quality of each research study to inform best evidence clinical decision making.
  • The Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) has released the Health Benefits of Work Position Statement (PDF 360 K) (click on the link to access the document) which provides evidence that work is generally good for health and wellbeing and that long term work absence, unemployment and work disability have a negative impact on health and wellbeing.
