The Motor Accident Insurance Commission’s (MAIC) quarterly newsletter and annual scheme insights: 2024-25 report are now available. These resources provide valuable updates on Queensland’s Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance scheme, road safety initiatives, and groundbreaking research projects.
The quarterly newsletter features CTP education and claims improvement initiatives, including findings from the 2025 MAIC Claimant Survey, which gathered feedback from 1,670 claimants to help improve the CTP claims process. Learn about how we’ve partnered with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to improve young drivers’ understanding of CTP insurance through a real-world business case project. This collaboration aims to empower the next generation of drivers with essential knowledge about their insurance responsibilities.
The newsletter also includes updates on MAIC-funded research and education initiatives that are seeking to improve rehabilitation services, and prevent motor vehicle accidents. Read about Queensland Road Safety Week at MAIC, where researchers shared innovative ideas to enhance road safety outcomes, and MAIC’s commitment to funding the PCYC Queensland’s Braking the Cycle program for a further three years, ensuring disadvantaged learner drivers can access supervised driving support.
In this edition we also share updates on the Griffith University world-first clinical trial for spinal cord injury treatment that follows seven years of MAIC-funded development research, as well as the MAIC-funded Gold Coast University Hospital Trauma Service Follow Up program evaluation. This program aims to enhance trauma patients access to healthcare services post hospital discharge.
We encourage you to stay informed about our ongoing initiatives and achievements as we continue to work to ensure Queensland has a stable, fair and affordable CTP scheme. Thank you for your ongoing support as we work to improve Queensland’s CTP scheme and road safety outcomes.
