We are excited to announce the release of the Motor Accident Insurance Commission’s (MAIC) May 2025 newsletter and scheme insights report. This edition includes a wealth of information and updates on our latest initiatives and achievements.
The MAIC Innovative Research Action Awards (MIRAA) recipients have been announced. These awards were a special one-off funding round announced last year to celebrate MAIC’s 30th Anniversary. Congratulations to the successful MIRAA recipients.
In a recent court case, the Nominal Defendant successfully defended an injury claim involving an unregistered dirt bike in Cairns. The robust investigation led to a successful defence, highlighting the importance of thorough and diligent investigation processes.
The Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) recently held its annual grants ceremony, honouring 2025 grant recipients. The event was marked by the presence of Insurance Commissioner Neil Singleton, who presented the awards to the deserving recipients. The EMF and MAIC continue to support and encourage research in emergency medicine, driving advancements in patient care across Queensland.
The MAIC-funded Jamieson Trauma Institute (JTI) hosted their annual showcase event, providing a targeted snapshot of key JTI research initiatives aimed at enhancing trauma management across Queensland.
MAIC is also making significant strides in improving insurer monitoring and reporting with the release of a new digital portal. The CTP Secure insurer portal is set to make interactions between MAIC and insurers quicker, easier, and more secure.
We encourage you to stay informed about our ongoing initiatives and achievements as we continue to work to ensure Queensland has a stable, fair and affordable CTP scheme.
