The Motor Accident Insurance Commission’s (MAIC) November 2025 quarterly newsletter and Quarterly CTP Scheme Insights: Jul-Sep 2025 report is now available. Catch up on the latest developments and initiatives we’re undertaking to improve road safety and advance the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance scheme in Queensland.

This quarter’s highlights include the launch of a “smart bumper sticker” research project developed in partnership with iMOVE Cooperative Research Centre, the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). This cutting-edge technology is designed to reduce tailgating and rear-end crashes, addressing two of the most common causes of road accidents in Queensland.

Another important project highlighted is the MAIC Exchange pilot, a secure digital platform for insurer reporting. All licensed CTP insurers are participating in this pilot, which aims to enhance cost and claim-sharing reporting processes, marking a significant step forward in improving the efficiency of the CTP scheme. We also highlight MAIC’s 2025 Nudgeathon partnership, an innovative behaviour change competition hosted by QUT in partnership with TMR. This event brought together creative thinkers to tackle real-world challenges, including raising awareness among young people about the importance of CTP insurance and keeping their vehicle registration up to date.

We also celebrate MAIC-funded initiatives featuring at the Australasian Road Safety Conference 2025, held recently in Perth. Researchers supported by MAIC presented innovative solutions to some of the most pressing road safety challenges, showcasing Queensland’s valuable contributions in this area.

The November 2025 quarterly newsletter and scheme insights report provide a detailed overview of these projects and more, reflecting our ongoing commitment to making Queensland’s roads safer.

To learn more about these projects and keep up to date with what we’re working on, you can subscribe to our newsletter, check out the scheme insights reports and quarterly newsletters online, or follow MAIC on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work to improve Queensland’s CTP scheme and road safety outcomes.
