The Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) is committed to giving the community access to the information it holds wherever possible.
The Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act) provide you with the right to access information held by the Queensland Government, unless it is not in the public’s best interest to do so. You can read more about the RTI Act and the IP Act here.
Details of how to access information held by MAIC is listed below.
How do I access information held by MAIC?
There are several ways you can access information held by MAIC. These include:
- Administrative release
- Right to Information and Information Privacy access applications
- Queensland Treasury’s Disclosure log.
Administrative release
Administrative release refers to the release of government-held information without the need for a formal request under the RTI Act or IP Act. It is often an easier, faster and cheaper way for an individual to access their personal information where there are no legislative prohibitions on the disclosure and no personal information of other persons contained in that information.
CTP Claims History Administrative Release Scheme
The CTP Claims History Administrative Release Scheme has been established by MAIC to facilitate the administrative release of CTP claims history information through the Queensland CTP Portal. As MAIC frequently receives requests for this type of information, the Scheme is intended to provide a streamlined process for applicants.
For more information about the Scheme, including eligibility and application process, please see the CTP Claims History Administrative Release Scheme
If you have any questions about the Scheme, or if you would like to discuss applying for administrative release of any other information, please contact us on 1800 287 753 or by email maic@maic.qld.gov.au.
Right to Information or Information Privacy access applications
As a statutory body attached to Queensland Treasury, MAIC’s Right to Information and Information Privacy access applications are processed by Queensland Treasury.
Please visit the Queensland Treasury website for more details about making an application.
Disclosure log
Queensland Treasury’s disclosure log lists information held by MAIC previously released under RTI applications.
