Prosecutions approach

As the regulator of compulsory third party (CTP) insurance in Queensland, one of the ways that we enforce compliance and preserve the integrity of our scheme is through prosecution.

This applies primarily to offences committed against the Motor Accident Insurance Act 1994 (Qld) and the National Injury Insurance Scheme (Queensland) Act (the National injury Act).

We act fairly, independently, objectively, reasonably and with integrity when exercising our prosecution powers. Our actions are in line with accepted legal practice and applicable legislation.

We respond firmly to people who commit offences in order to protect the public interest.

Our Information sheet: MAIC prosecutions approach (PDF, 692KB) explains the approach we take when responding to alleged offences.
